Here, again. The place that quietly bookmarked my growth while I was busy thriving in the sun.
Ocean water warmer than the Winter breeze that drifts across the sand. Diving under waves; weightless.
A waterfall: existing in a delicate balance between past and future
Drawing from rivers once forged into the landscape ~ To create magic, now
Before altered in flooding rains or vanishing in drought.
Natural Bridge, Springbrook National Park
Thoughts echoing through the valley with the drifting calls of a sooty owl.
Strolling quietly along suspension bridges one moment; the next, knotting the end of my dress to climb a vertical ladder, secured to a fig tree 30 meters high, peeking above the rainforest canopy.
Soaring: Crimson Rosellas and King Parrots, a flurry of vibrant freedom choosing to rest on our heads while fairy wrens watch curiously through the foliage.
A high school haiku flutters into my consciousness:
Lie amongst the earth
When you look up, watch the clouds
As they float, fly, soar
Nurtured by the air and water; rooted in the earth.
